We’re very pleased to let you lovely Dotty readers know about a fabulous upcoming auction that is taking place this Thursday 17th April 2014. I caught up with Elizabeth, who represents Fellows, to find out more…
Can you tell the Dotty readers about the auction on Thursday? What items could be of interest to the vintage bride-to-be?
Our Antique & Modern Jewellery auction takes place once a month and features an eclectic mix of vintage and modern pieces.
Readers should consider purchasing their wedding jewellery at Fellows because we offer an excellent selection of beautiful, unique items. Whether you’re looking for your forever ring or some stunning vintage pieces to add the final touches to your outfit, it is possible to find some incredibly priced pieces at our auction.
All of our pieces are catalogued in detail and available to view online, enabling you to get a detailed overview of the item before you place a bid. You’ll also be able to speak directly to any of senior specialists who can offer honest advice on all of our jewellery. If you live close enough, you are always welcome to visit us on one of our designated viewing days to handle the ring yourself.
How can they get involved with auction? How does the online participation work?
Auctions have changed a lot since the advent of the internet – you are now able to view our jewellery collections online and place bids without ever stepping foot in the auction room.
As a first time bidder at Fellows, the very first step is to register at www.fellows.co.uk, this takes just a minute to enter your details and also to choose your auction preferences. Vintage Jewellery & Accessories and Antique & Modern Jewellery are excellent places to start if you are on the hunt for either engagement rings or one off wedding pieces. If you are looking to bid online you also need to create an account at www.the-saleroom.com where all Fellows auctions are available to watch and bid online. When your lot comes up you just have to click to bid. It’s as simple as that!
What are some of your favourite or most interesting pieces from the collection available at the auction this Thursday?
A stand-out lot in Thursday’s auction is Lot 323, an Edwardian platinum diamond tiara. This beautiful tiara is of garland design with a series of graduated old and single-cut diamond foliate and loop motifs, each centered by a principal old-cut diamond collet and surmount.
Lot 25 is a diamond floral cluster ring. The old cut diamond, within a brilliant cut diamond surround sits on a plain band.
Lot 315 is a late 19th century gold diamond lyre brooch. The lyre set throughout with old cut diamonds, to the similarly-cut surmount.
I won’t be able to make the auction on Thursday… Do you have any more dates in the calendar?
As mentioned previously this auction takes place monthly. We also have a separate Jewellery auction which takes place fortnightly.
Where should I check online for updates and new auction announcements?
Our homepage and calendar pages on www.fellows.co.uk contain all of our auction updates. We also regularly update our social media channels with auction previews and highlights.
