This week I had the pleasure of meeting Chloe, “an up and coming designer maker from Cornwall” ~ quote from the Professional Jeweller, London!
Chloe Michell has had a passion for jewellery from a young age. For Chloe’s 24th Birthday she received a jewellery making class as a gift from her mother.
In 2003 Chloe Michell Jewellery was born with a grant from the Princes Trust.
After 6 years life then forced Chloe to take a break from her love of designing / making jewellery to support her children, she took a job as a bookkeeper. It didn’t take long for the artist to realise where her passion was. In 2012 she started a degree at Truro college! By 2015 Chloe graduated with a 1st BA(Hons) in Silversmith & Jewellery. She attended the Islington Show New Designers, (London) with college taking all the items she made during the degree. CMJ also had a stall at the Selvedge Winter Fair 2015 in Chelsea Old Town Hall, London, and The American Museum, Bath.
Chloe Michell Jewellery has a display of her amazing work yearly at the Summer Show, Rock, Cornwall along with her mother who is also an artist. If you don’t want to miss out you should pop along this year between 15th ~ 22nd July 2016.
Chloe will also be attending Bovey Tracey Contemporary Craft Fair this year – 9th-12th June 2016.
Since Chloe has graduated she has worked predominantly on custom designs, one-off pieces – one of which was an 18th birthday ring. She has recently designed and made an Emerald Ring which is a high-end keepsake: including the birth stone.
Chloe offers a personal service which includes:
- Getting to know the client / what their requirements are.
- Drawing up the design after taking many notes.
- Working with the client to reach the design they desire, taking into consideration everything discussed.
- Making the piece by hand
There are some off-the-peg items ~ these are items already made and ready to be sent. They can be viewed on the website or by contacting Chloe. (contact details below)
To start 2016 off, Chloe Michell Jewellery has moved to a new workshop and office near Wadebridge, Cornwall. She’s currently working on commissions and re-branding.
Chloe Michell Jewellery has a NEW range coming out very soon!!
