D-Day Inspired Shoot – Hobbits Vintage Creations

Hobbits Vintage Creations ‘ Elegant Adornments’ are an exquisite range of bespoke accessories both for bridal wear and other special occasions.

Every piece is carefully designed and hand crafted using a range of specifically sourced and up-cycled vintage silk, lace, pearls and jewellery.

The Hobbits collections are based on revived designs inspired by original vintage pieces. They span the classic eras of the 20’s, 40’s and 50’s but are fully adaptable to suit individual clients needs.

The range includes quilted clutches, beaded bags, perchers, pin and wrist corsages, half hats, birdcage veils, buttonaires and posies. We also offer an ‘Heirloom service’ which makes it possible to feature your own fabrics, lace or special treasures.

As a tribute to this years D-Day celebrations, I wanted to feature my classic, non-bridal hair accessories, corsages and bags in a styled photoshoot. The 40’s makeover for the girls took place at Austintacious Hair Design followed by afternoon tea at The Blitz Cafe, an amazing, award winning new venue in Kettering, Northants.

The ‘girls’ are enjoying a ‘hen’s party tea,’ excitedly chatting to their best friend about her forthcoming wedding. The look is based in the war time era of the 1940’s with the emphasis on simplicity and a ‘modest affair’- which would have generally been the case for most.

The venue has all the perfect touches, taped up windows, simple furnishings, and with the unique feature of the ‘bombed out roof’ (hence ‘The Blitz’) – a perfect place for a hen party tea for vintage loving brides. War time music plays with the odd interruption from an air raid siren.

Lest we forget the men serving in the war, signified by the guys that serve tea at the Blitz tearooms, dressed in their 1940’s wear all the time; it’s the most fabulous place to visit!
