Lace & Love is a fabulous bespoke shoe company, run by the ever so lovely Amanda. I am absolutely delighted to say that Amanda is designing me a pair of shoes for my wedding in September *Excitement Overload!*
I’m so very happy to share her business with you on Dotty Vintage Weddings, and if you’re looking for a pair of custom wedding shoes, look no further!
When did you start the business, and what was your inspiration for doing so?
I started the business a year ago (it’s our first birthday this month!). I love anything vintage and started the business when both my sister and I couldn’t find wedding shoes for our weddings. We had only found some very expensive shoes way out of our budgets and whilst sat looking at shoes one night, I decided to make a couple of sample pairs as a trial for my sister’s wedding shoes. I added them to Facebook (initially to show friends) thinking that they might get a couple of ‘Likes’ and the page went crazy! In the first two weeks, I had nearly 600 ‘Likes’! I decided I could offer them on a wider scale and make affordable custom shoes for brides. The website was launched about a month later along with an Etsy shop.
Who works ‘behind the scenes’ at Lace and Love?
It’s just me and my husband Kevin. I am the creative side, and make all the shoes and deals with the enquires and Facebook and Twitter accounts. My husband does the website and all things technical for me.
Can you explain to me how the process works, from initial consultation, through to beautiful shoes arriving for my wedding?
From the moment you purchase your shoes, the fun begins! Initially, we will choose a style of shoe. If you aren’t sure I can send pictures of ideas and styles. If you are unsure on sizing, we also offer a try on service so you can try on the un-worked shoes first.
Once the style has been decided, we can chat about the design on the shoes – what you like and what you would like to include, along with any colours, themes or personalised details you want to incorporate. From this brief, I’ll create a rough design onto the shoes and send some pictures. At that stage, we can tweak anything. Once the design is approved by you, I fix it all permanently before coating them with a water and stain repellent. They are then bagged and boxed ready to send on their way!
Can I provide you with a pair of my own shoes to personalise?
Yes – we also personalise your own shoes. The process would be the same but you would send me your shoes first.
I’m incorporating vintage fabrics and accessories into other parts of my wedding day – can you do the same for my shoes?
Yes, certainly. The lace I use is Victorian, antique and new, so you could have your shoes as your ‘something old’. We can add vintage jewellery or even a lucky sixpence. You can also send offcuts from your dress to add or any old charms or trinkets you may have.
I’d love to find out more! How can I get in touch?
