Real Vintage & Handmade Wedding – Lottie & Phil

Lottie & Phil were married on 17th August 2013, and their beautiful wedding was captured by Aj Sylvester Photography. Almost a year to the day since they got hitched, I’m delighted to share their wedding on the blog.

The couple first got together in 2009, and became engaged around three years later. The couple set about planning their handmade and vintage inspired wedding day, and decided to enlist the help of friends and family wherever possible.

Lottie tells me, “It was really important that the wedding reflected us. We also know so many incredibly people who have create such beautiful things. We really wanted to make sure that we also sought their help in producing some unique and special items for our big day.”

“My bouquet was made from brooches and vintage paper as well as the bridesmaids flowers. They were all designed and created by Jennifleur. The invitations were designed by my sister, and the cake was created by Cakes by Potts.”

“I made my own lace tablecloths, table decorations, and sweet bar. I looked at so many websites, pictures and magazines and decided to approach everything with the determination to do as much as I could myself. A vintage look is what we had in mind, and everything came together beautifully.”

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?
“Have faith in your own abilities and give yourself time. Take in everything that you see or have seen when you have been a guest at a wedding – the sweet bar is a classic example. This is something that can be easily created and better than anything that you could buy from a company!”

“I found so many little touches on eBay, Etsy and Amazon. My favourite was personalised vintage sweet bags that were only £10 for 50! I had so much fun collecting jars and actually buying the sweets. Also, make sure you get people involved! Utilise everyone‘s talent and seek out local people who will be able to create the perfect day.”
