The gorgeous wedding of Craig & Emma is the first of two weddings to be published on Dotty that have been captured by the talented Mia Photography.
The couple first met back in 2007, and their friendship blossomed into romance within a few short months. Six years later, the couple became engaged when Craig popped the question one Sunday afternoon, and Emma tells me, “It was at home, and very lovely.”
Craig & Emma tied the knot on Friday 25th April 2014 at the White Horse Hotel & Brasserie in Hampshire. Emma explains how they approached wedding planning, “First of all, we both sat down with a brainstorm of ideas and over time, we made a scrapbook from magazine cuttings of things and styles we liked, which created a vision of our wedding.”
“We took it step by step and prioritised using lots of lists and a diary, so we were able to budget and allow enough time to make bookings. We hoped to achieve a true vision of our wedding at the planning stage by sitting down and talking to each other about our ideas, plus getting inspiration to create the perfect wedding for us.”
“Our wedding was based around a spring garden. We both love the garden and spending time outdoors, plus getting married in April was the perfect time to recreate this.”
“We used pale yellow, ivory and pale green, along with bird place names and designs on our table plan and invites etc. We also wanted to create a vintage feel and did so by using handmade bunting and lace.”
Emma continues with her top tips for wedding planning, “Get advice from others, but make sure you do what you both want – this is your wedding day. Listen to recommendations – they are always the best people for the job. Lists and a diary are always a good idea to keep organised. We went to a few wedding fairs to meet suppliers, but don’t overdo it as it can get overwhelming. And make sure you talk to each other so your wedding is personal to you both as a couple.”
I would like to extend a huge thank you to Mia Hooper, of Mia Photography, for sharing the images with me, and to Craig & Emma – I wish you all the very best in your married life together!
