Emily & Andrew got married on 20th July 2013, on a beautiful sunny day in Dudley. Their gorgeous and quirky day was captured by Theresa Furey, and I’m so pleased to share their wedding with you all.
When did you meet?
Andrew and I met in July 2008 when I started in his office. A romance quickly developed and we got together in the October.
When did you get engaged?
We moved in together in September 2009, then got engaged in my favourite Italian restaurant in December 2010. We married on 20th July 2013.
How did you approach wedding planning? What did you hope to achieve?
When we started planning, I knew I wanted something unique. I’m known for my quirky style, and wanted my wedding to reflect this. We knew we wanted somewhere local. On picking the venue, we only visited Himley Hall, and booked it straight away.
Initially, I knew wanted a vintage style wedding, and over the months of gathering ideas, decided to go for a cricket theme to incorporate Andrew’s love. And it worked perfectly with the venue and vintage style.
What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?
My top tips would be…
– Don’t just go with what you think you should have. Go with what suits your personalities.
– Pick outfits that are ‘you’, and pick songs that have a meaning (or that you just really love!). I came down the aisle to “My Boy Lollipop” – because it’s so happy!
– Pick a great photographer. This is your lasting memory of your day.
– Don’t let negative people get you down – Remember, this is your day. Nobody else’s.
